Layla Skramstad is an emerging muralist and fine artist of San Francisco and graduated with a BFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco as of December 2013. She does a variety of styles including but not limited to: neoclassicism, realism, expressionism, impressionism and abstract. Layla uses a combination of scale, composition, and palette varieties to bring each series to full cohesion. Her love and appreciation for nature is what fuels her desire to paint landscapes and animals, both representational and abstract. Layla's appreciation for the impressionists use of light and color fuel her passion around her more contemporary abstract works, of which she uses a combination of limited color palette and alla prima style to create.

Layla Skramstad's passion for murals, frescoes, and large scale artworks have led her into a career involving muralism. Layla contributed to the AAU Breaker's Cafe Mural on Eddy and Mason St, as well as the AAU America's Cup Mural on Hayes and Polk St. Upon graduating, she was also involved in the execution and completion of AAU History of Fisherman's Wharf Mural on Jones and Beach St. Layla's first large scale independent mural project was the Gold Dust Lounge Recreation Mural, which resides at the bar's relocation in historical Fisherman's Wharf. It is 13 x 87ft, and depicts a heaven-like scape full of goddesses and cherubs, a replication of the original scene done by a mural crew hired by Bing Crosby in the 50s. She has since continued to do solo mural projects around the Bay Area. She continues to create new series for group and solo shows in and around the Bay Area.
