“Refusés of the BaY: De Young Rejects thow a rebel exhibition”
Metal Haus Gallery and Voss Gallery present “Refusés of the Bay,” a collaborative art project of two curated exhibitions by Bay Area artists whose work was inexplicably overlooked by the jurors of The de Young Open 2023.
“Refusés of the Bay” is a tribute to the 1863 Salon des Refusés, which showcased rejected artwork from the highly acclaimed Paris Salon, featuring a staggering two-thirds of the submitted work that was not initially chosen. This renegade art fair included emerging works from James McNeill Whistler, Édouard Manet, Camille Pissarro, and other world-renowned artists whose careers took off after the show.
This year, the de Young Museum received over 7,700 submissions to its triennial open call for community artists and fewer than 900 were selected. To narrow the gap, Voss Gallery and Metal Haus Gallery are partnering to provide platforms for the work of other exceptional local artists to be shown.
Join us Friday, Sept. 29th, 6-9PM for an Opening Reception at Voss Gallery followed by 2nd opening Soiree at Metal Haus Gallery at 8PM. Both exhibitions will be on view through October 28, 2023. Voss Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday, 12-6PM or by appointment. Metal Haus Gallery hours are Friday-Sunday by appointment.
“ColorScapes: : Low-Vision ABSTRACTS Art Exhibition”
Please join me for my latest solo show and more recent series, “Colorscapes”, a series of meditative abstracts celebrating vision and color.
These abstract oil paintings on canvas, born from a deep admiration for artists like Monet and Degas, pay tribute to my father's journey through low vision. With a focus on texture and vibrant color, these pieces are designed for easy appreciation, welcoming all viewers. Each canvas is an ode to hope and strength, a testament to overcoming life's challenges. Join us for an immersive and thought-provoking experience that speaks to the soul.
“I see less and less... Nevertheless, I always paint at the times of day most propitious for me, as long as my paint tubes and brushes are not mixed up... I will paint almost blind, as Beethoven composed completely deaf.” - Claude Monet
For every piece sold at the show, I donate 10% of the proceeds to the Braille Institute of America. Braille Institute is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to positively transform the lives of those with vision loss. Braille Institute serves more than 37,000 people through a variety of free programs, classes and services at centers and community outreach locations.

This Spring I’m painting one sunset a day. For each painting sold, 50% of the proceeds will go to Meals on Wheels for seniors in need!
Due to the pandemic, seniors all over the US are facing isolation and food insecurity. For many seniors, the meals they receive from Meals on Wheels are the main (or only) meal they get that day. Meals on Wheels not only provides meals, but social interaction, well-being check-ins, and helps to meet nutritional and care needs.
With this in mind, I am launching “Sunset for Seniors” where I will be painting one new sunset a day for the next month and will donate 5 meals (50% proceeds) to Meals on Wheels for every painting sold. Each piece will be priced at $65, inclusive of free shipping and damage-free packaging. All paintings will be shipped at the end of the campaign
I invite you to follow along with my #SunsetforSeniors journey on Facebook and Instagram. If you see a painting you love, please consider purchasing – you’ll be making a big difference for several seniors in need with the bonus of an original oil painting for yourself or a loved one!

Due to the pandemic, students all over the U.S. are unable to attend school, where daily meals are provided. Many kids depend on these meals to meet their daily nutrition requirements that otherwise would not be met at home.
With this in mind, I introduce Landscapes for Lunches, where I’ll be creating one landscape oil painting per day, and will donate 10 lunches to Kids’ Meals for every painting sold. Each piece will be priced at $45, inclusive of free shipping and damage-free packaging.
I invite you to follow along with my #LandscapesforLunches journey on Facebook and Instagram. If you see a painting you love, please consider purchasing – you’ll be making a big difference for 10 kids with the bonus of an original oil painting for yourself or a loved one!
